Proud moment for CCDS, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB)!
Team “THREE” — Yousra Tabassum, Nusrat Sultana, and Anika Islam — has made history by securing 1st place in the 3‑Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition Bangladesh 2025, organized by Elite Research Lab LLC! Yousra, Anika, and Nusrat are undergraduate female research students at CCDS and final year undergraduate student of Department of CSE (IUBCS) at IUB.
The national event began with 238 teams submitting one‑page poster‑style graphical slides using the official 3MT template. From there, 52 teams advanced to the video presentation round. In the final stage, 14 teams delivered compelling live presentations followed by a two‑minute Q&A with the judges.
Team THREE captivated the jury with their research work titled “Segment Anything Model 2 (SAM 2) for Accurate Flood Detection in Remote Sensing Imagery,” published in the 2024 IEEE Computer Society Conference Proceedings through CEII-2024 held in Singapore.
This research was guided by Dr. Ashraful Islam, the current Director of CCDS, IUB. This achievement celebrates not only the talent of IUB CSE’s young researchers but also the CCDS and university’s strong culture of research excellence, innovation, and academic engagement.
